Executive Members are visionaries and luminaries who are either renowned for their own great achievements in contemporary art, or who have demonstrated extraordinary talent in related creative, intellectual, and cultural disciplines. These interdisciplinary experts faithfully represent the past and future of contemporary art; they promote contemporary art worldwide, communicate ideas back and forth between the disciplines and have an understanding of their fields that transcends the specificities of the mediums. They strive constantly towards excellence and value in their fields of art, curatorship, culture, writing, philosophy and theory.

Alice Awards winners receive a GBCA Associate Membership and, even more important, access to a platform that allows them to present their ideas to a community of art experts and professionals. Intended to promote the contemporary art community’s wide-ranging array of talent, the aim of the Alice Awards is to create a high-impact, far-reaching arts network.

Applications are welcomed and encouraged from around the world and will be accepted until 3 July 2011 at www.aliceawards.com/en/enter_now.

Associate Members are former Alice Award Winners, nominees and other contemporary art experts. As such, they have demonstrable expertise in the categories that they review – in order to be accepted as an Associate Member, members must first submit membership applications then, if accepted, they are subsequently verified as experts and leaders in their peer groups. Associate Membership is only available for contemporary art's most promising individuals. In order to determine new Associate Members, the Executive Members of the GBCA cast their vote for the annual Alice Awards, and the winners receive an associate membership. Executive Members may nominate candidates for the Alice Awards, and its unsolicited participation programme is an opportunity for everyone, everywhere to submit their own candidatures – applications are welcomed and encouraged from around the world and will be accepted until 3 July 2011 at www.aliceawards.com/en/enter_now. A full list of Executive Members will be published in June at the GBCA’s website, www.gb-ca.net.
