6:00 PM Special Program
with The University of North Carolina School of the Arts
This is the second presentation at New Filmmakers of their 'The Image and Internal Time-Space Continuum' experimental film class. The twenty-one short films ranging from thirty seconds to five minutes made in this class, taught by John LeBlanc and Julian Semilian, are an exploration of the Moving Image wrenched free of quotidian isolation. The student explores the expression of communication between external stimulus and internal response in
series of visual and aural exercises designed to lead to the deeper awareness of how we shape and are shaped by images, engaging the student to enter the poetic timeline and create short works of artistic integrity. The films, spanning the surreal, experimental, comic and dramatic, are all original works created in the context of the classroom, each film being produced within the time limit of two weeks.
