JACK STRAW NEW MEDIA GALLERY PRESENTS
SYMPATICO an installation by Carlisle Roveto May 13 - July 8, 2011
Opening Reception: Friday, May 13, 7pm Artist Talk: Friday, June 10, 7pm Sympatico is an interactive sound installation that explores how we place energy into objects and how in turn those objects affect us. The viewer is invited to walk among several columns which support transparent puppets. Foot pedals allow the viewer to activate the puppets, which in turn will rap out a beat. Carlisle Roveto is a multi-media artist based in Seattle, Washington. Born in Albuquerque NM, she moved to Seattle and earned a BFA in Ceramics from the University of Washington in 2009. Currently, she is exploring physics and simple machines through experimentation. She often leaves the working parts of her pieces exposed for the viewer to share the experience of a simple but beautiful mechanical process.
