KENOSHA,
WI –In honor of National Travel &
Tourism Week, the Kenosha Area Convention & Visitors Bureau is
sponsoring a free admission afternoon at the Civil War Museum, 5400
First Ave.
Admission to the Fiery Trial exhibit will be free on
Tuesday, May 10th from 12 to 5 p.m. with free guided tours offered at
noon, 1 p.m., 2 p.m., 3 p.m., and 4 p.m.
The
Civil War Museum focuses on the role of six Upper Middle West states
(Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana and Michigan) and
tells the personal stories of men, women and children before, during
and after the Civil War. The main exhibit, The Fiery Trial, takes
visitors back in history through state-of the art technology and
interactive exhibits. The exhibit takes visitors through a town
square, with a snapshot of family life as war breaks out. A train
bound for the battlefront features the stories of soldiers, nurses,
doctors, clergymen and underground railroad participants. Men and
women experience the battlefront. A riverboat is the setting as
people travel home from war and spread the news of President
Lincoln's assassination.
Regular
general admission is $7, Kenosha/Somers Residents $5. Friends of the
Museums members and children 15 and younger are admitted free of
charge.
