TRAVELOGUE – BEIRUT, LEBANON: LAMIA JOREIGE

Take a "staycation" and visit faraway art centers through the eyes of those who know
them best—all without leaving Philadelphia. Catch the next flight to Beirut, Lebanon,
the final stop in the series, with painter and video artist Lamia Joreige.
Lamia Joreige (b. 1972, Lebanon) is co-founder and co-director of the Beirut Art Center,
a nonprofit space dedicated to contemporary art in Lebanon. She has presented her work
internationally in exhibitions at the International Center of Photography, New York; the
52nd Venice Biennale; Modern Art Oxford; The Tate Britain and the Tate Modern, among others.
She has contributed to various publications and panels, including
Afterall online
magazine;
Framing Reality, Tate Britain; Artforum; and
Out of Beirut.
