Text on the banner: “The student movement is part and parcel of the popular movement.“ AND AND AND is an artist run initiative, which will use the time between now and dOCUMENTA (13) in 2012 to consider with individuals and groups across the world the role art and culture can play today and the constituent publics or communities which could be addressed. The series of interventions, situations, and occurrences entitled AND AND AND are part of dOCUMENTA (13) and will compose a map of emergent positions, concerns, and possible points of solidarity. For the eighth event, AND AND AND has invited the artist Oumayma Khaled to help organize a discussion considering art and culture in post-revolutionary Tunisia. The event is inspired by discussions on Avenue Habib Bourguiba after the January 14th Revolution, in which citizens discuss and debate in informal circles, spontaneously, their political positions, their ideals, and their ideas concerning the reorganization of life in this moment in Tunisia.  It has been asked, can there be a revolutionary art without revolutionary times? Oumayma Khaled would like to reverse this question and ask the discussants, can one undergo a revolutionary process without that process also impacting the art that is being produced?  Amidst the historic changes impacting North Africa, the Mediterranean and Middle East Regions, one wonders how a political redistribution of sensibilities and modes of doing impacts those who work within the realm of art. What kinds of concerns, subjects, works emerge or are called for in this revolutionary moment? Mai 2011  AND AND AND ist eine Künstlerinitiative, die den Zeitraum bis zur dOCUMENTA (13) im Jahr 2012 nutzen wird, um gemeinsam mit anderen KünstlerInnen und Gruppen aus der ganzen Welt die Rolle von Kunst und Kultur und der durch sie adressierten Öffentlichkeiten in der heutigen Zeit zur Diskussion zu stellen. Die so entstehende Serie künstlerischer Interventionen und Ereignisse ist Teil der dOCUMENTA (13). Sie leistet eine Bestandsaufnahme unterschiedlichster zeitgenössischer Positionen und bietet verschiedene Anknüpfungspunkte für eine Auseinandersetzung. Anlässlich der achten AND AND AND Veranstaltung hat die Initiative den Künstler Oumayma Khaled eingeladen, eine Diskussion zu initiieren, welche  die Rolle der Kunst und Kultur im post-revolutionären Tunesien befragt. Diese Interaktion  wurde von den Diskussionen auf der Avenue Habib Bourguiba nach der Revolution des 14. Januars inspiriert. Hier diskutieren Bürger in informellen Runden – oft ganz spontan – ihre politischen Positionen, Ideale und Ideen für eine Reorganisation des Lebens in diesem revolutionären Moment in Tunesien. Die zentrale Frage war: Kann es eine revolutionäre Kunst in nicht-revolutionären Zeiten geben? Oumayma möchte im Zuge dessen folgende Frage entgegensetzen und die Diskussionsteilnehmer befragen: Können wir einen revolutionären Prozess durchlaufen, ohne dass dieser Prozess einen Einfluss auf die Kunst ausübt, die produziert wird? Inmitten der historischen Umwälzungen, die Nordafrika, den Mittelmeerraum und den Mittleren Osten erfasst haben, muss man sich fragen: Wie beeinflusst eine politische Neuverteilung von Empfindlichkeiten und Handlungsweisen die Menschen, die im Feld der Kunst arbeiten? Welche Arten von Belangen, Themen und Arbeitsformen gehen daraus hervor oder werden in diesem revolutionären Moment als notwendig erachtet?   Am 24. Mai 2011 an einem noch zu determinierenden Ort in Tunis wird sich eine Gruppe von Künstlern treffen und beginnen, sich mit diesen Fragen auseinanderzusetzen.
