Head On Photo Festival Launch and 
Head On Portrait Prize Winners Announced 	
 	 

	  

	Thursday May 5th marked the launch of The Head On Photo Festival
which runs through until 11th June. This year the festival boasts an
outstanding array of over 130 exhibitions and events featuring diverse
works by around 300 Australian and international photographers at over
80 venues throughout Sydney.
	
	The evening also marked the eagerly awaited announcement of the
winners of the 8th annual Head On Portrait Prize at the host venue the
Australian Centre of Photography.
	
	The judges Moshe Rosenzveig, Head On Festival director, Judith
Blackall, MCA Head of Artistic Programs, Sandra Harrison, Sydney Morning
Herald Photographic Managing Editor and award winning photographer Sean
Izzard selected the following winners from well over 2,500 entries of an
exceptionally high standard.

		Robert McFarlane selected Katrin Koenning's image
entitled Sleeping Woman as the critic's choice. 
		
		The winners shared in a prize pool worth over $50 000.
Their images along with 40 finalists and a slide show of a further 200
entries are on display as part of the Head On Photo Festival. In
addition to the exhibition and events program the Festival also features
a remarkable series of workshops, lectures and its flagship weekend
Seminar on the 14th and 15th of May at the National Art School.
		
		The Head On Photo Festivals runs through until 11th
June.
