Lyle Motley returns to La Luz De Jesus Gallery with a new group of paintings titled "

Sending The Sightlings". Motley's new paintings continue to explore the narrative potential of abstraction, and also present his most ambitious inclusion of sculptural elements to date. Motley creates these unique sculptural paintings by bending and brazing rods of steel, filling the spaces with custom cut panels and finally finishing in oils.  As a result several of the paintings in " Sending The Sightlings " escape and are unbound by the squares and rectangles of frames.  The complete collection can be viewed as one, June 3- June 26, 2011 at La Luz De Jesus Gallery.

 

 

 

 

Lyle Motley is a oil painter, drawer, and tinkerer from Colorado. With his beginnings in ceramics and sculpture , years writing and playing music with the Lyle and Sparkleface Band, commercial and editorial illustrations , murals in Flagstaff AZ and Salida CO , a love of the outdoors, aimless wanderings and adventures around the west, life in the city and the middle of nowhere, all the wackiness of being a dad, and a mind operating without enough sleep, his work has become a unique blend drawing on many sources. Most importantly though, Lyle is completely obsessed with smearing paint on things, and when he is not smearing, he is fascinated by the light bouncing off the stuff that is all around him.
