Ai Weiwei -
Interlacing
May 28 - August 21,
2011
Fotomuseum Winterthur
(Main Gallery and
Gallery)
For the first time a comprehensive exhibition of photography and videos
by Ai Weiwei, one of the most complex contemporary artists from
China, has been organized. As a sculptor, conceptual artist, photographer, and
architect, Ai Weiwei has created a political oeuvre that has excited much
attention around the world. Ai Weiwei is a seismograph of current topics and
social problems, who, as great "multiplier" and communicator, channels life into
art and art into life.

Alexander Rodchenko -
Revolution in
Photography
May 28 - August 14,
2011
Fotomuseum Winterthur
(Gallery of
Collections)
The exhibition Alexander Rodchenko - Revolution in
Photography focuses on the Russian Constructivist Alexander Rodchenko,
whose work spanned many disciplines - he was a painter, sculptor, designer, and
photographer. He conquered traditional photography with the slogan "Our duty is
to experiment!" in 1924, which resulted in a reconsideration of the concept and
role of photography.

Things will get better -
Photographs by Hans
Steiner
May 28 - October 9,
2011
Fotostiftung
Schweiz
The exhibition Things will get better - Photographs by Hans
Steiner shows a part of the Bernese photographer's broad work, which
previously received little attention, and presents a surprising and fresh view
of the profound changes that affected Switzerland in the postwar period.
Leisure, fashion, and sports proved to be Steiner's key themes. In his
unconventional images, he casts light on urban and rural everyday life, focusing
especially on the changes in a society in which consumption and pleasure were
becoming more and more important.
