Inside
Looking Out
Dual exhibition by Sara Gallo and David
Jewell
On view at Dublin
Arts Council May 3 – June 17, 2011
DUBLIN, Ohio — (April 14, 2011) Inside
Looking Out will be on view in the Dublin Arts Council (DAC) main gallery, 7125 Riverside Dr., in Dublin,
from May 3 through June 17. DAC will host an opening reception for the artists
on Tues., May 3 from 6 to 8 p.m. The dual exhibition by ceramicist Sara Gallo
and painter David Jewell is inspired by the windows, natural light and surrounding landscape of
the Dublin Arts Council gallery.
Jewell,
who earned a Master of Fine Arts from Bowling Green State University, currently
lives in Athens, Ohio. He often creates interior scenes where a window, its
light and view are significant parts of the composition. His landscapes will
offer an interesting counterpoint his paintings of interior spaces. Jewell is a
former instructor at The Columbus College of Art & Design in Columbus and
has participated in numerous solo, group, juried and invitational exhibitions
throughout the region.
Gallo,
who lives and works in Philadelphia, provides complement and contrast through
an installation of glazed objects that are often displayed on walls in
constellation-like compositions. She earned a Master of Fine Arts in Ceramics
from The Ohio State University, where she also served as a lecturer and
instructor of record.
Inside Looking Out
is curated by Ann Bremner, publications editor for the Wexner Center for the
Arts at The Ohio State University in Columbus. She also contributes occasional
essays and articles on contemporary art and artists to newspapers, magazines,
and museum/gallery publications throughout Ohio and the region. She received
Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees in the history of art from The Ohio
State University and has taught there and at several Ohio colleges and
universities.
Exhibition hours for Inside Looking Out are Tuesdays, 10 a.m.
to 7 p.m.; Wednesday through Fridays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Saturdays, 11 a.m.
to 2 p.m. The exhibition and the opening reception are free of charge.
