Auction at Michaelis School of Fine Art:

 

From yesterday, the 12th,  to 20 July 2011 the Michaelis School of Fine Art, University of Cape Town, is hosting a fundraising exhibition and auction of work of its prestigious alumni and staff, in aid of bursaries and scholarships at the school, Hiddingh Campus, 37 Orange Street, Gardens, Cape Town. The auction on Wednesday 20 July is at 17.30 for 18:30 and run in partnership with Strauss & Co auctioneers. More here.

Giant bottle-top mosaic at National Arts Fest:

 

The participatory public artwork Tomorrow’s Joy will once again be shown at the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown in July. Tomorrow’s Joy is a 100m2 recycled bottle-top mosaic by Such Initiative. More here.

The Coolie Odyssey Heads Home:

 

Rajesh Gopie’s stage classic returns in triumph to The Playhouse stage after an absence of six years.Rajesh Gopie’s widely admired classic, The Coolie Odyssey, makes a long overdue return to the Playhouse Drama theatre for a three-week season which plays from 14 July to 7 August 2011. Grotman at State Theatre in July:

 

Groet die Grotman with Hannes Muller as Die Grotman will be presented at the Arena of the State Theatre in Pretoria from 6 to 9 July 2011. Koos Kombuis translated Rob Becker’s Defending the Caveman into Afrikaans and adapted it, Sandra Prinsloo directed it, and Hannes Muller plays the role of die Grotman. More here.
