RIP Wolf Weinek:
Austrian born and South
African based artist and one of the founding members of the Market Gallery, Wolf
Weinek (74), passed away in early July 2011 He is remembered by Cati Weinek in
a tribute to a man described as “husband, father, grandfather, friend, cultural activist, teacher

at Michaelis School of Fine Art Tonight:
Tonight, 20 July 2011, the Michaelis School of Fine
Art, University of Cape Town, is hosting an auction of
work of its prestigious alumni and staff, in aid of bursaries and scholarships
at the school, Hiddingh Campus, 37 Orange Street, Gardens, Cape Town. The
auction on Wednesday 20 July is at 17.30 for 18:30 and run in partnership with

Renaissance Conference:
The
13th annual African Renaissance Conference will be hosted during the 4th and
5th August 2011 at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre in
Durban. The festival will celebrate, debate and examine broader issues related

Wavescape at the Durban International Film Festival:
The festival includes a tumultuous documentary about a schism that
splits Papau New Guinea villagers apart, a flowing depiction of South Africa's
