Exceptional Karel Appel exhibition
On August 5th, on the occasion of De Nacht van het Zoute, Robinsons Art Gallery opens the exceptional exhibition ‘Karel Appel vs. Picasso’. Highly recommended for art connoisseurs and art lovers.
De Nacht van het Zoute
De Nacht van Het Zoute is an exclusive event, on the occasion of which a number of art galleries, interior design shops and boutiques open their doors until well into the night.
On that occasion you must definitely visit Robinsons Art Gallery, where you will be welcome at the vernissage of the exceptional exhibition ‘Karel Appel vs. Picasso’. The gallery, which counts as the most important promoter of Appel, will then exhibit a number of special works of art.
Karel Appel
The great power of Appel, one of the most polyvalent CoBrA artists, is that his work constantly changes. He adds and varies by using colours and materials.
Just like Picasso, Karel Appel is an artist showing extraordinary abilities and a tremendous vision. Connoisseurs call him de greatest artist after Picasso and believe that in time they will be equal in relevance.
Picasso
More than anybody else Picasso contributed to the development of modern art. He broke the rules of the art academy and for example did not think it important to apply the rules of perspective. The members of the CoBrA group as well, in search for renewal, such as Karel Appel, did not follow this rule and were greatly influenced by Picasso’s way of painting.
From this point of view Robinsons Art Gallery this summer shows, besides the work of Karel Appel, moreover an extremely interesting selection CoBrA art of prominent artists such as Pierre Alechinsky, Corneille and Christian Dotremont.
