PHOTOMONTH CELEBRATES PHOTOGRAPHY
photomonth 2011 opens on 1 October with a retrospective of the documentary photographer Phil Maxwell at Bishopsgate Institute where his work is being archived for public use. 230 Bishopsgate EC2M 4QH.
(Liverpool St tube). Exhibition runs to 30 November, open Mon-Sat 10am-5.30pm.
More than 100 galleries and venues in East London and beyond are exhibiting work by established and emerging photographers. Major exhibitions include Simon Roberts at Flowers, Faseeh Sams at Gallery 320, Rob Macdonald at the new Hackney Picture House, Kerry Clarke & Gemma Donovan at the Townhouse, Andrew Grainger at the Carpenters Arms, Colin O’Brien at Pages of Hackney. Original venues include Agnes b, Heel Gallery in the Grocery and Lock 7 Cycle Café.
photomonth aims to be the most inclusive photography festival. We have created opportunities for everyone to be involved in photography with a wide range of workshops and courses, photowalks, the photofair, the photo-open show, seminars, discussions, artists talks and entertaining events.
