September 14, 2011 - October 15, 2011 Opening Reception Saturday, September 17, 3-5pm Hive Ed Inks Cast bronze 24" x 6" x 6" A teacher's purpose is not to create students in his own image, but to develop students who can create their own image. -Author Unknown Having been a teacher at Santa Barbara Community College for 20 years, Ed Inks doesn't teach so much as facilitate his students' development. No singular philosophy governs the direction of work coming out of his class; he challenges each student to clarify their own path of discovery through the absolute immersion and practice of working. Each of the five students in this group exhibition, 5-1-12, have displayed a level of personal commitment to their work and discovering their own image. Five students, one teacher, and twelve works of art to make you wonder, where was he when I was in school? All the artists will be in attendance at the opening reception, Saturday, September 17, 3-5pm at the Sylvia White Gallery located at 1783 E Main St in Ventura. The gallery is open and free to the public Wednesday through Saturday from 11am to 5pm.
