Curtis Amisich Scrambled; Who’s Afraid of Pink, Blue and Yellow - new paintings from September 02 to October 01, 2011 Opening reception Thursday, September 08, 4pm to 8pm Artist in attendance

Using Barnett Newman as a jumping off point in my new work, I attempt to envelop the viewer in a large post painterly world of colour. Who’s Afraid of Pink, Blue and Yellow responds to Newman’s late works, combining his bold use of minimal composition with my own colour sense. My sense of colour is derived much less from an art historical context and more inspired by everyday experiences. Walking the streets on trips to Paris, London, Montreal, Manchester and Amsterdam -- experiencing the fashions of the people, the architecture of the cities, and even the various road and underground signage have all influenced these paintings.
