Teams of Architects to Present Proposals Addressing Foreclosure in Five U.S. Regions, in Preparation for MoMA Exhibition in 2012

NEW YORK, September 13, 2011—The Museum of Modern Art and MoMA PS1 present the final public open house for Foreclosed: Rehousing the American Dream, a collaboration between MoMA and Columbia University's Temple Hoyne Buell Center to examine new architectural possibilities for American cities and suburbs in the context of the recent foreclosure crisis, on Saturday, September 17, 2011, from 12:00 until 6:00 p.m., at MoMA PS1. The five interdisciplinary teams of architects, engineers, and urban planners chosen for the project will give public presentations of their proposals, which have been developed over the last four months and will be exhibited at MoMA starting February 14, 2012, in the exhibition Foreclosed: Rehousing the American Dream.

Following the presentations, U.S. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Shaun Donovan will give a keynote speech titled "From Crisis to Opportunity: Rebuilding Communities in the Wake of Foreclosure" at 4:00 p.m., addressing the potential role that public sector housing initiatives can take in responding to the foreclosure crisis; the viability of current and future models of public-private partnerships; the capacity for integration of housing and infrastructure planning; and the role of government in the shaping of the urban environment.
