The artist will comment on her work followed by a poetry reading and live music.

In a series of abstract paintings, Anne Marchand explores a new vocabulary of color and texture in the swirling vortexes of nebulas and the surfaces of moons and planets, bringing these into her ongoing search for ways to approach mystic poetry through visual expression. The show is curated by Claudia Rousseau.

The King Street Gallery is located in the atrium of the Morris and Gwendolyn Foundation Arts Center on the west side of the Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus. For more than 40 years, Ken Wyner has photographed Washington's enchanted private homes for architectural firms and magazines, as well as monuments and private institutions, and in this exhibition, he has taken his collection of images and digitally transformed them to create fantastical versions of the city's architecture. Featuring more than 40 kaleidoscopic images from Washington's celebrated architectural and design community, the Structure of Spirit demonstrates Weyner's skill in mixing the illusory mastery of artist M.C. Escher with his own formally trained eye. Talking about the photos in the show, Weyner says they are "about breaking down walls, blurring the lines of reality and fantasy, and pondering the complexities of design both as real form and surreal dream."
