MARILENA VITA Please join us for the exhibition opening Somewhere on the other side Wednesday 5 October 2011 at 18h00 (Artist present at the opening) Marilena Vita is an Italian photographer and performance artist. Her exhibition, Somewhere on the other side, offers insight into her own life and art's philosophy. Her photographic and video work re-interprets the complex living condition of the modern-day person. "If the truth would be an illusion, the illusion would be part of the truth" - Marilena Vita. She lives and works in Catania, Rome and Milan. Videoartista, performer, pittrice, fotografa, regista cinemotografica e televisiva. Ha studiato all’ Accademia di Belle Arti e all’ Accademia Nazionale di Arti Cinematografiche di Bologna. Ha realizzato varie mostre e live performance a Miami, Mons (Belgio), Genova, Milano, Atene, Siracusa, Kalamata (Grecia), Berlino, New York, Roma, Basilea, Praga e isola di Samotracia. Ha insegnato all’Accademia di Belle Arti di Noto e collaborato, come regista video, a corsi didattici presso varie università e accademie. Su progetto dell’Unione Europea, ha realizzato un documentario su alcune città dell’Andalusia.
