NEW YORK, NY
(November 28, 2011)–Galerie Gmurzynska is proud to exhibit
important works of art at Art Kabinett and Art Public,
part of Art Basel Miami Beach, December 1–4, 2011.
One of the highlights is a collaborative show titled
Yves Klein/John Cage: PLAYING WITH FIRE, two of the most
influential artists of their generation, curated by Joachim
Pissarro.
While each artist is widely recognized for his innovative and
experimental artistic principles and practices—especially in his
respective native country— rarely have they been seriously discussed
together. The exhibition will mine and explore one particularly
intriguing affinity between these two formative artists: their
attraction to and manipulation of fire as an art-making tool.
Other works of art to be exhibited include:
Jean-Michel Basquiat: Untitled (Car Crash, December
1980); Fernando Botero: The Street (2010); Robert
Indiana: Indiana (1979) and Golden Circles (1959-2000);
Yves Klein: F 125 (Diptychon, 1961); Louise Nevelson:
Untitled (1976-78); Andy Warhol: Sylvester Stallone
(1980); Tom Wesselmann: Smoking Cigarette #1 (1980).
For the first time, Galerie Gmurzynska will
participate in Art Public in collaboration with the Bass Museum
of Art to showcase Robert Indiana’s sculpture: ART; Red Blue
(1979/2001) which will be on view at Collins Park, Miami Beach.
Admission is free and open to the general public.
Art Basel Miami Beach (Art Kabinett), Booth B2 is
located at the Miami Beach Convention Center, Miami Beach, FL, December
1-4, 2011, daily from noon to 8pm, Sunday until 6pm. Press preview:
Wednesday, November 30, 10am to 9pm; Vernissage: 6pm to 9pm. Visit www.artbaselmiamibeach.com
