L’équipe du CAN tente de renouveler sa quête d’un point de déséquilibre permanent. Pour ce faire, elle lance un cycle d’expositions et d’événements qui tentera de faire la synthèse des différentes préoccupations pratiques et théoriques du CAN, en cherchant à provoquer une convergence entre son autocritique institutionnelle et les expositions proposées dans son white cube. Ce cycle, intitulé Superamas, sera constitué d’une suite de phases conçue de manière organique. Elles s’enchaîneront les unes à la suite des autres sans qu’une fin ou un début ne soient véritablement perceptibles pour chacune d’elles. L’exposition sera donc en transformation permanente. Superamas devrait être constituée de quatre phases qui se dérouleront jusqu’en mars 2013. Les espaces d’exposition et les bureaux seront progressivement fusionnés afin de limiter la séparation entre un lieu de présentation de l’art - habituellement figé le temps de l’exposition - et celui de sa conception et de sa réalisation qui reste en mouvement permanent. Il s’agira donc d’habiter et de vivre le centre d’art, plutôt que de le faire vivre, dans une volonté de mêler praxis et théorie, d’offrir un cadre propice à l’apparition.
Superamas présentera des œuvres qui pourront être conçues et produites sur place pendant l’exposition, tout comme des pièces préalablement existantes. Différents événements (conférences, discussions, projections, concerts, performances, etc.) y prendront place. Ces derniers pourront, eux aussi, se dérouler de manière spontanée, ou, au contraire, être programmés à l’avance. Les espaces d’expositions accueilleront une partie des bureaux, et seront donc également le lieu de conception des transformations successives de Superamas. Des microéditions (tirages photocopies) seront conçues et imprimées sur place au fur et à mesure de l’avancement du cycle. 

La première séquence de Superamas débutera, le 18 mai 2012, par la présentation de trois installations filmiques dans les espaces principaux du CAN. Durant l’exposition d’autres œuvres viendront compléter, puis remplacer les premières installations exposées. Dans les semaines qui suivront le vernissage, plusieurs artistes viendront augmenter et transformer cette situation de départ. Matthieu Pilloud, Marion Tampon-Lajariette et Sebastien Verdon (entre autres) interviendront librement dans l’exposition. Celle-ci sera donc en mouvement permanent induisant une redéfinition constante de ses interprétations. Ainsi Superamas tentera de fusionner praxis et théorie pour se rapprocher d’une pensée et d’une créativité qui se déploie sur le fil ténu du présent. Les différentes interventions artistiques donneront lieu à des vernissages intermédiaires qui seront annoncés au jour le jour par voies de courriers électroniques et sur notre site internet. The CAN’s team is trying to renew its quest from a permanently unstable point. To achieve this, it’s starting a cycle of exhibitions and events which will attempt to synthesize the CAN’s different practical and theoretical preoccupations, by trying to provoke a convergence of its institutional self-criticism and the exhibitions proposed in the white cube. This cycle, named Supercluster, will be made up of a succession of organically conceived sequences. They will follow, one after another, with no truly perceptible ending or start for each one. Thus the exhibition will be in permanent transition. The exhibition spaces and the offices will be progressively fused together to limit the separation between arts’ presentation space – usually freezing the exhibitions time – and its conception and realization, which remain in constant movement. It’s about residing and living in the art space, rather than making it live, willingly mixing praxis and theory, offering a favorable framework for apparition.
Supercluster will present works that can be conceived and produced on-location during the exhibition, as well as preexisting works. Diverse events (conferences, discussions, projections, concerts, performances, etc.) will be held. All this can exist as a spontaneous event, or to the contrary, be programmed before hand. The exhibition spaces will hold part of the offices, and will thus also be the place of conception for the successive transformations of Supercluster. Micro-editions (photocopied prints) will be conceived and printed on-location and throughout the cycle. Superclusters first sequence, May 18th 2012, will begin with three video installations that will be presented in the main spaces of the CAN. During the exhibition, other works will complete, and replace, the first exhibited installations. In the weeks following the opening, several artists will augment and transform the initial situation. Matthieu Pilloud, Marion Tampon-Lajariette and Sebastien Verdon (among others) will freely intervene in the exhibition. Hence this last will be in permanent movement, inducing a constant redefinition of its interpretations. Thus Supercluster will attempt to fuse praxis and theory to come closer to a thought and a creativity which is deployed on the fine line of the present. The different artistic interventions will give grounds for intermediate openings which will be announced on a day to day basis through e-mail and on our website.
