about "Walking To the W.T.C. - " I remember taking it very very seriously when writing it but that is ten years ago now and the memory has dimmed. I will be at the Bin Laden House for the Anniversary . I was just out of Afghanistan when the real event happened in NY . I had been there with the Taiban when they ruled the country.I wrote the poem in NY when I was living in the village ... third street off second avenue near where the Hells Angels have their offices."
about George Gittoes: George Gittoes works in a variety of media: painting, drawing, printmaking, installation, video and film. He was born in Sydney, Australia in 1949. Gittoes' exhibition "Witness To War" in 2011 at the Station Museum in Houston was the first major presentation of his artwork in the United States. His work reflects the life and the vision of a unique artist who is driven to experience the tragedy of war first hand. |
