Fortune's Cookie," our first collaboration of the year (2004) was a mixed media Project with the legendary Nancy Reddin Kienholz. Using a photograph scanned from the book chronicling her work with her husband the late Ed Kienholz as a starting point Nancy explored several avenues with this image captured in the eighties by photographer Marsha  Burns.

   After the image was scanned and enlarged to life size the next step was opening 300  fortune cookies. OK, the next step was really ordering Chinese take-out  ... and then ..... Nancy found a source for acquiring the cookies and fortunes wholesale. After much cookie crunching and editing (choosing the right fortunes) .... 30 or so fortunes were placed on  the enlargement and re-photographed. The digital image was then manipulated in the
computer to bring the hair around the fortunes.

   A life size film positive was then created and a photogravure plate made and impressed on Rives BFK in a variety of tones for each of the ten final pieces. All works were then  overlaid with the  transparency of the fortunes and adhered along the top of the image and  at two points at the bottom corners. All works are in the collection of the artist.

    Haunch of Venison  presented an exhibition of later works from legendary US artists Ed  and Nancy Reddin Kienholz, alongside a series of new lenticular works created at the TCA  Studio from Nancy Kienholz opened at Haunch of Venison Zurich Switzerland, October 14,  2007.
