Free First Saturday: Open Laboratory
Saturday, June 2, 10 am-3 pm
Join us outside for the first Open Field event of the year. Learn about bugs, plants, and art through creative play with specialists from the Science Museum of Minnesota and Westwood Hills Nature Center. more >>
Northern Spark at Open Field
Saturday-Sunday, June 9-10, 9 pm-6 am
For this citywide art extravaganza, the Walker stays up all night for s’mores, campfire concerts, storytelling, a glow-in-the-dark Drawing Club, and one-night-only gallery and garden surprises. more >>

Thursdays, 5-9 pm

Artist Residencies

Kitchen Lab
June 19-30

Design and research duo Carl and Betsy DiSalvo, from the Georgia Institute of Technology, are looking at the kitchen from an array of vantage points, from food systems to families, and from fine art to public health. Join us on Thursday evenings June 21 and 28 to cook up a new kind of community kitchen— a mobile lab centered around food and social action. read more >>

July 17-29

What if the inside of the museum was on the outside? What if a simple poncho transformed your visit into a performance? Members of Minneapolis-based design studio ROLU ask us to join them in building Field Collection—a lawn-friendly version of artworks from the Walker’s collection—and for a host of other activities that explore the question: when does something become something else? read more >>
