THE ANABASIS OF MAY AND FUSAKO SHIGENOBU, MASAO ADACHI AND 27 YEARS WITHOUT IMAGES
ERIC BAUDELAIRE

EXHIBITION CONTINUES UNTIL 22 JULY 2012

The Anabasis... is the first UK solo exhibition by French artist Eric Baudelaire. The works on show look at the complexities of recounting the history of the Japanese Red Army (JRA), presented in an installation encompassing the artist's 2011 experimental documentary film, documents, photographs, prison drawings and works on paper.

IN-CONVERSATION: ERIC BAUDELAIRE & PIERRE ZAOUI

TUESDAY 12 JUNE 2012, 7 - 9pm

A discussion between Eric Baudelaire and French philosopher Pierre Zaoui, punctuated by excerpts from Ici et ailleurs (Here and Elsewhere, 1976, 53min, with English subtitles) by Jean-Luc Godard and Anne-Marie Miéville. Zaoui's text Anabasis of Terror: Trying (Not) to Understand accompanies Baudelaire's exhibition.
 

                 
BOOK LAUNCH & IN-CONVERSATION
MARTIN BECK: THE ASPEN COMPLEX

TUESDAY 19 JUNE 2012, 7pm

The Aspen Complex documents two versions of artist Martin Beck’s Panel 2 exhibition - at Gasworks in 2008 and at Columbia University’s Arthur Ross Architecture Gallery in 2009 - bringing together yet unpublished archival material and new research on the 1970 International Design Conference in Aspen and the Aspen Movie Map.

This event launches The Aspen Complex and during the evening there will be a discussion with Beck, designer Robert Sollis and design researcher Rasmus Spanggaard Troelsen.

THE RED ARMY / PFLP: DECLARATION OF WORLD WAR

The Red Army... was made in collaboration with a newly-emerging Japanese Red Army (JRA) cadre and leaders of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP). Together they produced this newsreel-style depiction of the everyday activities of Palestinian fighters, which they intended as a 'declaration of world war'.

OPEN STUDIO WEEKEND

FRIDAY 29 JUNE, 6 - 9pm & SATURDAY 30 JUNE, 12 - 6pm
 
Artists Minae Kim, Sean Lynch, Tatiana Blass and Yashas Shetty conclude their residencies by opening their studios to the public. During the open studio weekend there will be studio tours, talks, a publication launch, workshop and screenings by the visiting artists.
