Tyler Rollins Fine Art is pleased to announce the participation of Sopheap Pich and Araya Rasdjarmrearnsook in dOCUMENTA (13), taking place this summer in Kassel, Germany. We will feature recent works by both artists at the VOLTA art fair in Basel, Switzerland (June 11-16).
Cambodian artist Sopheap Pich works primarily with bamboo, rattan, and burlap to create sculptures and installations that address issues of time, memory, and the body, often relating to his childhood recollections of life during the Khmer Rouge period. Pich has exhibited in solo and group exhibitions around the world, including the Singapore Art Museum (2010), the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco (2011), and MASS MoCA (2012), as well as a recent solo exhibition at the Henry Art Gallery in Seattle (2011-12). Pich was a featured artist in the Fukuoka Asian Art Triennale in Japan (2009), the Asia-Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art in Australia (2009), the Singapore Biennale (2011), and the Asian Art Biennial in Taiwan (2011).
For the past 25 years, Araya Rasdjarmrearnsook‘s video, installation, and graphic works have been regularly shown in institutions in her native Thailand and throughout the world. Later this year, she will have two solo exhibitions at museums in the United States: the Walters Art Museum, Baltimore (August 11 â November 18, 2012); and the Bass Museum of Art, Miami Beach (opening December 2012). Araya’s works have been shown in numerous international museum exhibitions on five continents. Last year, she was shown in institutions in Columbia, Italy, Japan, France, Germany, Korea, Norway, and Singapore. Her work has been featured in 13 international biennials, including the Venice Biennale (2005), the Sydney Biennale (2010 and 1996), the Gwangju Biennale (2006), and the Asia Pacific Triennial (1993).
