Yana Payusova / Cogaigne / Acrylic, house paint, India ink on canvas / 46" x 54" / 2011
Yana Payusova was born in Leningrad, USSR and classically trained as a painter at the St. Petersburg Fine Art Lyceé, she later immigrated to the US.  She received an MFA in New Media from the University of Colorado at Boulder.  Payusova's paintings blend the styles and symbols of folk art, Russian icons, graphic poster art, illustration, and comics, and reflect Payusova's cultural heritage and her training in traditional Russian realist painting.

Brad Ascalon / The Dream / 42"h x 28" w x 146" l
Brad Ascalon, Brad Ascalon Studio NYC was founded in 2006. The multidisciplinary design studio specializes in furniture, packaging, consumer products, environment design and development, as well as site-specific sound composition and installation art projects. In The Dream, Brad uses the white picket fence as a symbol of the ideal middle class suburban life in America.  It's used as a commentary on a dream which has become nearly impossible for most Americans to realize.  The distance between the upper and middle class has increased exponentially, and within a limited timeframe, the dream for too many has shifted from living a comfortable and picturesque suburban life to wondering if today’s the day the electricity will shut off.
