With special appearances by the stars of the film,
ULTRA VIOLET and TAYLOR MEAD
NEW YORK — Gastromarket and (Art) Amalgamated will present John Chamberlain’s only complete feature film, The Secret Life of Hernando Cortez, Thursday, June 14, 2012. It is at once a wickedly humorous and visually lush film starring Taylor Mead in the role of Spanish conqueror, Hernando Cortez, and the divine Ultra Violet as his consort, the daughter of Aztec emperor Montezuma. Filmed in 1968, the 58 min. movie will be displayed in the backyard garden of Gastromarket and (Art) Amalgamated at 8:30 pm, with seating starting at 7:30 pm.
The film was originally conceived after Chamberlain met with the actors and the producer over a series of evenings at Max’s Kansas City. Chamberlain formed the story by asking, “What kind of film could we make if we brought our stars to the Yucatan and invented a narrative, while visiting places that Hernando Cortez had been?...”
Please join us through the courtyard of Gastro Market (which is two doors down on the same block of the gallery towards 28th St). The restaurant serves beer, wine and food. This is a free event that is open to the public.
