THE ART OF HUGGING
A Heartwarming Guide to Everyone's
Favorite Gesture of Love
By
Brainard and Delia Carey
The Free Hug movement has been taking the world
by storm since it first started over a decade ago.
Brainard and Delia Carey began with an
experimental form of expression and eventually helped create one of the most
uplifting, powerful movements of the past twenty years.
The Art of Hugging: A Heartwarming Guide to
Everyone's Favorite Gesture of Love (Skyhorse Publishing, June 2012)— is a small book with a big idea—to make
the world a better place, one hug at a time.
Conceptual artists and husband-and-wife team—AKA The Love Doctors—have
exhibited hugs as art all over the world and now they've broken down one of the
world's simplest and most powerful gestures.
From the story of the hugging saint and a
history of hugging's viral video movement to advice on how to use your own hug
movement to support charitable causes, The Art of Hugging is a do-it-yourself guide to start spreading
the love! With beautiful photographic
illustrations, this book outlines the physical and psychological benefits of
hugging, an explanation for literal tree huggers, and a guide to starting your
own movement, among other things.
The Art of Hugging has a unique
idea for fundraising that is laid out in clear steps. Instead of spending money
on expensive cookies or pies, could a non-profit group get together and give
way 5,000 hugs and raise 5,000 dollars? No galas, no giant expensive parties,
just hugs to raise money, awareness, and at the same time create smiles all
around.
Husband and wife Brainard and Delia Carey help to fix
broken hearts and spread comfort one gesture at a time. The Art of
Hugging—a funny and smart cross-over from art to pop culture—is your
all-encompassing, smile-out-loud guide to health, happiness, and changing the
world for the better.
