The Museum is collaborating with the Albany Institute of History & Art on an exchange of original exhibitions drawn from each other’s collections. On Hudson: Highlights from the Albany Institute of History & Art examines both the history and the symbolism of the Hudson River Valley, which has shaped American culture for three centuries. The Albany Institute’s collections include extraordinary portraits and material culture by Dutch settlers, one of the nation’s preeminent groups of Hudson River School landscape paintings, and contemporary works that exemplify the region's ongoing artistic legacy. Join Bansavage for discussions on the book, The Island at the Center of the World: The Epic Story of Dutch Manhattan and the Forgotten Colony that Shaped America (2004) by Russell Shorto. Based on centuries-old documents, the book constructs a sweeping narrative of Manhattan’s founding that gives a startling perspective on how America began.

Join master storyteller Tom Lee in the Rafal Landscape center for colorful bouquet of garden and garden-related tales suited for the whole family.

Sunday, June 24 12-4pm The Florence Griswold Museum is one of 14 distinctive historic sites and gardens across the state. One day a year each site celebrates Connecticut's places of beauty with special activities and events. For a lisitng of activities at all sites go to Cthistoricgardens.org for more information.
Enjoy the Museum’s gardens on this special day five ways! Grounds admission is free; regular admission applies for historic house and gallery.
Enjoy refreshments on Miss Florence’s porch.

Make a Painting Sundays Every Sunday 1-5pm Free with Museum admission. No reservations required Painters are given brushes, palette, paint, canvas, and a smock and are sent to paint down by the river or in Miss Florence's garden. Complete your day with scavenger hunts and visit the historic artist studio.
