Submissions for the New Media Festival Los Angeles featuring Digital Art, Photography, New Media and Interactive are still open. This collaboration with the Downtown Film Festival Los Angeles will be an incredible array of artworks! http://lacda.com/juried/juriedshow.html

LACDA artists can be found in this group exhibition of work that originates in the computer realm through the use of 3D-imaging and other software. Built in the Digital World features painting, prints, sculpture, and video. Jeff Alu’s “Mythic Realities” series, exhibited at LACDA in May, will be exhibited at the Mandelman-Ribak Gallery, Harwood Museum of Art, in Taos, NM, October 2012, January –2013.  This will be in conjunction with the Eighteenth International Symposium on Electronic Art: Machine Wilderness, held in Albuquerque, NM.  Seven of his prints from the series will be exhibited. http://harwoodmuseum.org/

 

LACDA regular Roxanne Brousseau-Félio (Top 40 competition winner 2009) curating realtime online international event '6-12-6' June 12th, 2012. Curt Burgess, an LACDA represented artist,  is one of 100 artists whose work will be on display at the Seattle Erotic Arts Festival (June 16-24). His digital image - Splash! – will be seen by an anticipated 10,000 guests. Burgess has been showing at this festival and other erotic arts shows, such as Detroit’s Dirty Show and Rochester’s Erotic Arts Festival, over the last five years.

 

In May, LACDA artist Rajiv Ramaiah participated in Somerville Open Studios, one of the largest events of its kind in the country. His work was one of a handful selected to represent the 400+ artists in advertising for the event. In July, he’ll be featured at Artbeat, one of the largest music and art festivals in the Boston area. This year’s theme is “Migration”; his fictional subway maps will be used in an interactive public art project charting immigration to the City of Somerville. http://www.somervilleartscouncil.org/artbeat/2012

 

LACDA artist Richard Kaponas' (competition winner 2011) experimental comedy, Male Receptionist, was recently selected to screen at the L.A. Comedy Shorts festival and on June 12th, his feature length directorial debut, Ranchero, will be released on DVD. In addition to his work as a filmmaker, Kaponas has also designed cover art for upcoming albums by Mangled by Mangulation and Don DiLego.   

 

2011 LACDA competition winner was in the last issue of the most important Hungarian art photography magazine Fotóművészet; a 6 page article presents Aniko Robitz's photos and her works. http://fotomuveszet.com/

 

LACDA represented artist, Ole Tersløse, has finally released the book "the sky is the limit" about his works - the introduction is written by the french art historian Itzhak Goldberg - art critic at Beaux arts Magazine. Later this year Ole Tersløse will show the series "Talking to animals" at a solo show at Galerie Maria Lund http://www.marialund.com, Paris. Selected works from the series have already been shown at LACDA.

 

LACDA artist Todd C. Tostado was featured with http://www.specialacademy.org in the 'MONTHLY MOSAIC ART WALK' at the Alhambra Renaissance Corner, on May 4th, June 1st, and July 6th https://www.facebook.com/events/188209457950604/?ref=nf. Todd also has an upcoming group exhibition 'in Riverside later this year, for details http://www.facelessimages.com.

 

Now through July 21st, the work of LACDA artist Michael B Wood is featured in Candela Books + Gallery's first annual summer invitational exhibition.  Featured in the Richmond Arts Review, the show, titled UnBound!  "acts somewhat as a survey of contemporary photography, offering a perceptive glimpse of where the art of photography has come from and where it is trending."

 

Last weekend, Michael's work was featured in the Contemporary Art Ruhr in Essen, Germany and he has an upcoming show at The Sunset Restaurant in Malibu, in early July. http://mbwoodphotography.com

 

LACDA artist Doug Ness was featured in Aline Smithson's blogzine "Lenscratch" on March 31st. He was then featured in the Rocky Mountain School of Photography blog on April 3rd. In late April, four of his images were selected to be part of the "Abstracts: The Alternative Eye" exhibition at 1650 Gallery in Los Angeles that was on display during May. LACDA artist Max Tzinman won an online competition and was featured in the exhibit 'Abstractions' (http://www.exhibitionswithoutwalls.com/abstractions/) and was published in Art & Beyond Magazine. Presently, he is preparing for his solo show at Atlantic Gallery (Chelsea), planned for November 2012. http://www.anthropofagus.net

 

LACDA regular Ron Janowich's co-curated exhibition of 16 artists  is currently at The Freedom Tower, Miami  Fl. The show explores the relationship between Art and Science. Dates: May 24-Aug 11, 2012

 

LACDA represented artist Ellen Fisher is currently included in an exhibit at the Danforth Museum: "Off the Wall," juried by Boston MFA director of gifts, Cody Hartley. Showing through August 5th. http://www.danforthmuseum.org/annual_members2012.html .

 

LACDA artist Laura Krasnow's photography will be displayed during the Art Takes Times Square billboard premiere event in New York City, on June 18th.  Her images can be viewed at http://LauraKrasnow.artistswanted.org/atts2012. LACDA artist Colleen Corcoran will be featured in the exhibit "The Portrait: Up Close and Personal" at the Mpls Photo Center in Minneapolis, June 22nd through August 19th. Her images will also accompany written work by novelist Joe Meno in an upcoming issue of Annalemma Magazine.

 

Member Wanda Boudreaux's work can be seen in the current LACDA "Looking Forward: Ten Artists to Watch" curated by LACMA's Nancy Meyer, and was exhibited in L.A.NDSCAPES I and II.
