In the heart of Dalston, the outsider art duo will be presenting their first mini retrospective of their work throughout the years including their punk band, social interventions and new surprises, the girls show is a must see in London. Having been featured in Dazed & Confused and shown at The Other Art Fair, Pure Evil Gallery and Banksy's Santa's Ghetto.

TINSEL& TWINKLE KIDNAP A BANKER!



Tinsel Edwards & Twinkle Troughton present their first everMini Retrospective, a rare opportunity to see a large selection of works by thedynamic art duo opening 5 July at A-Side B-Side Gallery.


The highlight of the show’s opening includes a banker that theartists have kidnapped and will be placed inside the gallery for the durationof the evening. Bespoke ‘Tinsel and Twinkle’ bank notes will be handed out tothe public during the opening of their show. Guests will be asked to respond tothe global economic crisis by writing their solutions, opinions, emotions andthoughts onto these bank notes. The money will then be pinned around the bankerforming an insightful display.


On show from 5th – 19th of July, this isthe first retrospective by the art duo - Tinsel and Twinkle - and is also anamazing opportunity to see a large cross section of their work, includingpreviously unseen pieces, and a selection from the back catalogue. This is alsoa chance to re visit previous art stunts - Tinsel and Twinkle as TrafficWardens giving away free art, and the wonderfully acclaimed ‘OpinionatedObjects’.  All works will be forsale including a run of limited edition prints.


Tinsel & Twinkle have chosen to present their ‘mini’Retrospective fairly early on in their artistic careers. The works on displayoffer an insight into their individual artistic concerns. Social and politicalthemes dominate the show, illustrating their quest to highlight, expose andquestion; bringing contemporary issues to the forefront.


Tinsel’s passionate ideology as an artist is rooted in a desireto create works which question and challenge social and political issues. Hercommentary is a personal response to social injustice. Incorporating text intoher paintings, the works are littered with action statements, personal mottos,questions, observations and anecdotes, reflective of her earnest approach todealing with serious concerns.


Twinkle's work has been inspired by social political issues in Britainboth now and as it existed decades and centuries ago. Recently her work hasbecome more universal in it’s consideration. Often satirical and usuallypolitical, the content carries dark undertones and attempts to shine a light onwhere the Human condition repeatedly remains in the dark.
