Collaboration is key to artistic creation, and photography is no  
exception. One of the most exciting collaborations of this year's  
Festival X is the collaboration occuring between SPAO, Festival X, and  
the Canada Dance Festival. Seven alumni of the School of Photographic  
Arts: Ottawa (SPAO) have each been asked to photograph one of the  
seven groups participating in this year's Canada Dance Festival. These  
images will be printed during a mini residency at SPAO over the summer  
and will be displayed at the National Arts Centre during Festival X in  
September. The artists participating cover an extremely wide range of  
photographic practice, from glass plate photography (Whitney  
Lewis-Smith) to editorial work (Jamie Kronick); from portraiture  
(Sarai Strikefoot) to skateboarding photography (Josh Hotz). This is  
sure to be an exceptional group of work!

La collaboration est au coeur de la création artistique et la  
photographie n?est pas l?exception à la règle. L?une des  
collaborations les plus excitantes de l?année est la coopération entre  
SPAO, Festival X et le Festival Danse Canada. On a demandé à sept  
diplômés de la School of the Photographic Arts: Ottawa (SPAO) de  
photographier chacun un des sept groupes participants au Festival  
Danse Canada de cette année. Ces images seront imprimées au cours  
d?une mini résidence à SPAO durant l?été et seront exposées au Centre  
national des Arts pendant le Festival X en septembre. Les artistes  
impliqués couvrent une vaste gamme de domaine de la photographie, de  
la photographie avec plaque de verre (Whitney Lewis-Smith) au travail  
éditorial (Jamie Kronick) et du portrait (Sarai Strikefoot) à la  
photographie de planchistes (Josh Hotz). Ce sera sans aucun doute un  
ensemble d??uvres extraordinaires!
