for Immediate Release British Spirit – AOP Members Group Online Exhibition 19 July – 12 September 2012   Excitement is brewing in the run up to the AOP’s first group themed online exhibition British Spirit due to go live on July 19. Over 100 images were submitted from our membership with up to 40 images selected to make up the exhibition.   Expect to see images depicting Great British traditions such as good old fish & chips!.  The Union Jack is featured in abundance, as it lines streets at Jubilee celebrations and even as an accessory to a British Bull Dog!  British quirkiness is revealed with images of British hobbyists and British customs.  Along with portraits of Dame Vivienne Westwood and Queen Elizabeth II herself waving at the Thames flotilla.   In a more subtle manner the exhibition examines the Olympic site in London with stunning graphic images.  It also looks at portraits of individuals who have migrated to Great Britain by ship.   Curator and Exhibitions Manager, Rachel Rogers reminds us, “We wanted to show what sets our country apart, its culture and its people in the context of this summer’s Jubilee and Olympic celebrations.” The exhibition, curated from AOP members’ submissions, will be online 19 July-12 September.
