The Ojai Arts Commission selects Donna Granata as the new

Pure Joy - Circa 1969

The Mayor of the City of Ojai, Betsy Clapp, will present the Lifetime Achievement in the Arts Award to Donna Granata at the next City Council meeting on Tuesday, July 10 at 7:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at City Hall.

Ms. Granata is the Founder and Executive Director of Focus on the Masters, a non-profit educational program which showcases and permanently archives the work of artists in Ventura County. She is dedicated to presenting the value of the arts to mankind by illustrating the influence the arts can have on our lives. She accomplishes this by selecting contemporary artists of note in our community and documenting their work.

Originally trained as a painter, Donna’s passion for portraiture and art history drew her to photography because it enabled her to capture a particular moment in time in the artist’s personal history. The Focus on the Masters program presents its research to the public through exhibitions of her photographic portraits, the live Artist Spotlight Series, a video–taped interview series and an educational outreach program, Learning to See Youth Outreach, to schools and youth centers.

An accomplished teacher, Ms. Granata lectures for Elderhostel International and has guest lectured at UCLA Department of Journalism. She received a Bachelors of Arts Degree and Honorary Masters of Science Degree from the Brooks Institute of Photography where she serves on the faculty as an adjunct professor. Her work has been exhibited in numerous cities across the country and is held in local and national collections. She is listed in Who’s Who of American Women.

Friends and the public are invited to attend the award ceremony on Tuesday, July 10 at 7:00 p.m. at Ojai City Hall located at 401 South Ventura Street.
