Get In The Picture

Tue–Wed, Jul 10–11, 6:30–8:30pm, FREE

Clifford Owens is having an amazing year. His first solo museum exhibition Anthology recently closed at MoMA PS1, Bomb magazine interviewed him, and he's creating lots of artworld buzz. Now he's coming to Atlanta and, for the live aspect of his inclusion in Deliverance, he will continue his ongoing Photographs With An Audience series with a two-night photo session featuring perhaps YOU! Owens will set up a camera and lights, and then talk with audience members to gather the personal data he needs to shape each picture. We want 50-60 diverse adult collaborators to help the artist make some unbelievable new images. This event is not for children. Special thanks to PPR for providing photographic equipment for this event.

Delivering the Goods

Fri, Jul 13, 7–10pm

Deliverance is our new show featuring live events, photos, videos, and texts by 4 outrageous performers who wreak havoc with boundaries of self and other. Come celebrate the opening with us and talk with exhibiting artists Laura Ginn, Anya Liftig, and Clifford Owens about their involvement with art history, rats, and phallic cacti. Yes, you read that right. Wear something fun and beat the heat with a nice cold drink and memories of Burt Reynolds and that boy with a banjo.

Performance Artists Tell All

Sat, Jul 14, 11am–12pm

Want to know how Clifford Owens felt about the challenge to "Be African American. Be very African American."? Have questions about survival training for Laura Ginn? Need to know why Anya Liftig got naked and mimicked a store-bought chicken? Come hear the artists answer these and more in a rare conversation about the thrills and challenges of contemporary performance art
