Lathan-Stiefel will discuss her Flux Project "Ocean," which is installed on the exterior of the historic Department Store building on the corner of Edgewood and Boulevard, as well as past and current projects in galleries and museums in Montreal, Seattle, Philadelphia, and Sheboygan, Wisconsin. She will also talk about such diverse topics as how she first began making installations with pipe cleaners and fabric twelve years ago, what was her favorite piece in Finster’s Paradise Garden when she visited it as a high school student, how mobility is an integral element of her art practice, and what was the reaction of her next door neighbor in her suburban Pennsylvania neighborhood when she hung a sculpture in the tree next to his yard.
