Watercolor Demonstration
Sunday, August 4 at 10:00 AM- 5:00 PM
Award-winning artist and teacher Charles Rowland will lead a one-day workshop exploring the design fundamentals and techniques that allow his watercolors to capture the essence and emotion of the subject while involving the viewers' imagination in its interpretation. This class is being offered by CMA in partnership with the Central Ohio Watercolor Society. The cost of the workshop is $85 for nonmembers, SPECIAL MEMBER PRICE $75, and includes instruction, demonstrations, painting time and a group critique. Class size is limited to twenty students. Jazz in the Garden
Sunday, August 5& 19 at 3:00 PM
Enjoy Jazz in the Garden with Mark Flugge and Friends throughout the summer. Adult admission is $10 per person. Students under eighteen are free with adult admission. Tickets are available at the entrance to the garden on concert days. For more information, please call 614.629.0359.

Batteries Not Included: Superhero Blockbuster
Sunday, August 12 at 11:00 AM- 4:00 PM
Do you love comics and superheroes? Enjoy watching superhero movies? Come to CMA to create your own superhero character and blockbuster movie trailer! You’ll dress up, create a story and script, film your movie using green screens and special effects tricks, and share the finished movie with friends and family.This program is recommended for families with children ages six and older. Cost of the program is $60 for an adult and a child pair, $12 for each additional family member. SPECIAL MEMBER PRICE $45 for an adult and a child pair, $10 for each additional family member. Family Adventures
Sunday, August 12 & 26 at 2:00 PM
Share ideas, laugh, and play games during this docent-guided experience. Your family team may embark on a scavenger hunt, imagine yourselves inside a painting, or discover a work of art that tells a family story. Family Adventures are a great way to share quality time and make new memories together. This program is free, no registration requested.

UNIVERSITAS

Columbus Universitas is a community of people dedicated to helping Columbus reach its potential as a city of creativity and innovation. Kleibacker Film Festival

The premiere film of the Kleibacker Film Festival is Bill Cunningham New York. This 2011 film chronicles Bill Cunningham, a photographer who for decades has been passionately documenting fashion trends and high society events for New York Times style section in his columns "On the Street" and "Evening Hours." As Vogue Editor Anna Wintour famously said "We all get dressed for Bill." Don't miss the chance to see this five-star, touching portrait of an intensely private legend. The second featured film of the Kleibacker Film Festival is The September Issue. This is a vibrant documentary about the making of Vogue's biggest issue and its frosty editor-in-chief, Anna Wintour. The third and final featured film of the Kleibacker Film Festival is Secret World of Haute Couture. This is a BBC production featuring Mary Kinmonth meeting millionaire customers and world-famous designers as she explores that mysterious pocket of the fashion industry known as haute couture. NEW! Sparking Imaginations
Tuesday, August 28 at 1:00 PM
Sparking Imaginations is a tour designed for people with Alzheimer’s disease or other dementia accompanied by their caregivers. This hour-long program provides those living with the degenerative disease an expressive outlet and a forum for dialogue. Group tours are available. Sparking Imaginations admission is free, courtesy of Abbott. Registration is requested. Please call 614.629.5947 for reservations or to learn more. Sparking Imaginations is made possible through a partnership with the Alzheimer’s Association of Central Ohio; AWARE, the Alzheimer’s Women’s Association to Reach and Engage; and a generous gift from Abbott.

Art Challenges
Sundays 1:00–3:00 PM
Visit the Art Challenges station in the galleries to participate in exciting, art-based games that highlight a CMA artwork or collection. Compete against friends and family members, or challenge the scores posted by other visitors. All are welcome to participate and prizes are part of the fun.

Roaming Docents
Daily (excluding Mondays and Saturdays), 1:00–3:00 PM
Start a conversation with one of CMA’s trained guides. Get your questions answered, chat about a work of art, or hear an inside story. Look for Roaming Docents throughout the galleries.

Learning to Look and The Inside Story are two, new ways of exploring the Museum on a tour.  Interested in hearing anecdotes and inside stories about works of art, artists, and the Museum?  Look for The Inside Story on our calendar.  Want to learn how to look at and interpret a work of art?  Join us for Learning to Look tours that delve into a few works of art.  Check the calendar for tour themes.

Scouts @ CMA
If you are a Boy Scout, a Girl Scout, or a troop leader, pick up our new booklet that is just for Scouts or plan a Scouts @ CMA tour. Scout patches are available in our Museum Store. Please call 614.629.5947 for more details.

Museum on the Move
Museum on the Move is a community outreach program sponsored by CMA. We’ll be stopping by libraries, festivals, concerts and other events in and around Columbus in order to provide fun art-making activities for the entire family. Visit columbusmuseum.org to find locations near you! 

Lego Drive
CMA will be accepting Lego donations as part of a partnership with COSI’s Lego Castle Adventure exhibition. Every quart bag of Legos donated provides free admission for two to the Museum during June, July and August. Stay tuned for exciting Lego activities to be help at CMA later this year!
