WEEK OF July 30, 2012
of "Black and White (more or less)"
Saturday, August 4, 3-6pm
studio21south, 40 Eagle Street, North Adams
NORTH ADAMS-- Art gallery
studio21south is hosting an artists' reception for its current show, "
Black and White (more or less)", on Saturday, August 4th from 3-6pm. All five artists will be on hand to discuss their work. The artists work in a wide range of media, but they share a commitment to placing their craft front and center. Columbia County's
Frank Curran carefully tends his antique printing presses in his Stuyvesant, NY studio, while Boston artist Karen Walter who brings her experience as a paper conservator to her multi-layered drawing practice.
Thor Wickstrom and
Eric March will surely have stories to tell about the joys and challenges of painting on site, often in full view of the public. The reception will be a great opportunity to chat with the artists and see the paintings, drawings, and prints on view in this mostly-monotone show.
studio21south is a fine art gallery in North Adams, presenting a home for contemporary realist and abstract art in the Berkshires. After a couple of great seasons in the Beaver Mill,
studio21south is now open in a classic storefront on historic Eagle Street, where it continues to represent fine artists working in traditional media.
"Black and White (more or less)" runs through August. 40 Eagle St., North Adams, MA 413.652.4815 studio21south@gmail.com, www.studio21south.blogspot.com

"Nature Unbounded" drawings for
"Black and White, (more or less)". Walter, a Boston-based artist, uses the tidepools and rock formations of North Adams' Natural Bridge as a source of inspiriation for her lyrical, multi-layered drawings.

Eric March, painting on site in the deep Wisconsin winter. The painting on his easel, "Beer Farm-Grain Leg", is on view in "Black and White (more or less)"

North Adams artist Thor Wickstrom working on site at the beautiful Church on the Hill in Lenox. Wickstrom co-manages studio21south with Jaye Fox. The two often paint on site in the Berkshires, on the lawn at Tanglewood and other locations in north and south County.
