3rd Annual Sunset Jazz @ Lyndhurst, Tarrytown -Starts TONIGHT!

Free Thursday Sunset Concerts in August at the magnificent 67-acre Lyndhurst estate, a National Trust for Historic Preservation site. Grounds open at 5pm, music at 6:30pm. Nominal $10/car parking fee. Also accessible by the Old
Croton Aqueduct trail. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets or low-profile lawn chairs, and may bring or purchase a picnic supper at site. Concerts on West lawn overlooking Hudson River, or in Carriage House courtyard tent if rain.

We open with Cuban pianist and composer Manuel Valera & The New Cuban Express, This Thursday, August 2, 6:30-8pm!

Friday Night Jazz at the Hudson River Museum! 511 Warburton Avenue, Yonkers, NY (8/3,10 & 17; 6:30-8pm)

Our 3 Friday evening free concerts (8/3,10 & 17; 6:30-8pm), originally slated for the Beczak Environmental Education Center have been moved to the Hudson River Museum, 511 Warburton Avenue, Yonkers (approx. 1 mile South of Hastings-on-Hudson, NY). Concerts will take place outside in the Courtyard, or inside in The Great Room in event of rain.

This Friday, August 3rd, we're thrilled to present Souren Baronian's TAKSIM Middle Eastern Jazz Ensemble! I first heard them 40 years ago at Barbara's on West 3rd St. in Greenwich Village - they're amazingly gifted and creative and FUN!

Special thanks to Richard Halevy & Jennifer Rabley for graciously inviting us to present these concerts in their wonderful venue!

Our nearly thirty free summer concerts continue on Wednesday, August 8 (6:30-8pm) when we present Jazz Forum Arts Board Member & Vocalist Tyrha Lindsey & Friends + A Special Segment Featuring Carly Rose Sonenclar & Bianca Muniz - our Rising Star Vocal Winners! at Waterfront Park at the Hudson River in our 13th Annual Dobbs Ferry Summer Music Series, which runs through August 22. In event of rain, Concerts take place at Embassy Community Center, 60 Palisade St., across from Metro North RR Station.

The series is presented in association with the Village of Dobbs Ferry, and is sponsored by CHASE, co-sponsored by Rivertowns Square, Lincoln Property Company, Saber Real Estate Advisors, Green Mountain Energy Company, Doubletree Tarrytown, Latin Percussion, RiverArts & Rivertowns Guide. Additional support provided by New York State Council on the Arts & Arts Westchester.

Jazz Forum Arts will also partner with and present:

GATO BARBIERI - 80th Birthday Concert - Nov 17, 2012

Barbieri launched his career as a leader with the Latin-flavored “The Third World” in 1969, and later parlayed his Grammy-winning “Last Tango In Paris” (1972) success into a career as a film composer, scoring a dozen International films over the years in Europe, South America and the United States.

From 1976 through 1979, Barbieri released four popular albums on Herb Alpert’s A&M Records. Gato continued To record many fine albums, and now at 79 enjoys playing concerts with his exciting group “for the people.”
