Woodson Art Museum Offers Healthy Fun at Family Fest

Wausau, Wisconsin: The second-annual Family Fest, a weeklong art-making festival at the Woodson Art Museum, begins Tuesday, August 14, and features a different, drop-in art project each day, culminating with an evening family yoga class and family entertainment on Tuesday, August 21.
      Family Fest encourages families to practice healthy habits together: movement, sun safety, and art and is part of a national initiative, Let's Move! Museums & Gardens, launched by First Lady Michelle Obama and the Institute of Museum and Library Services in 2011. The Woodson Art Museum joins more than 500 participating institutions nationwide.       Drop by anytime during regular Museum hours (Tuesday-Friday, 9 am- 4 pm; Saturday and Sunday, Noon-5 pm; closed Monday) to experience something different each day: August 14, Kite Making; August 15, Pounded Leaf and Flower Prints; August 16, Garden Markers; August 17, Vegetable and Botanical Printing; August 18, Tissue Paper Flowers; August 19, Leaf and Fern Sun Prints; August 21, Art in Bloom, an array of flower-themed art activities.
      All ages gather for a free family yoga class, August 21, 5-6 p.m., led by River Flow Yoga for all skill levels, and stay for family entertainment at 6 p.m.; bring a blanket or chairs. "Funny Guy Jugglin' Stuff" Sean Emery, a former clown who spent three years traveling by circus train, juggles, jokes, and delights the whole family with his circus skills, comedy, and showmanship, 6-7 p.m.
      Funding for summer programs, including the Family Fest initiative, comes from Ministry Health Care and River Flow Yoga.
