Two new exhibitions open October 5
|

Images of churches in Madison, Lyme, and East Haddam, and a new photo of the Old Lyme First Congregational Church celebrate these buildings that give New England towns and villages a unique sense of place and define, in many minds, the New England character.

The exhibition includes works from her Lyme Art Colony colleagues, like this Robert Vonnoh portrait of Wilson and her daughters from the Woodrow Wilson House in Washington, DC, to provide an artistic context for her paintings and visual documentation of the Wilson family’s role in the colony.

Children will delight in the fun and whimsical creations while adults marvel at the creatively conceived and handcrafted works of art. The Museum will be open seven days a week to accommodate demand.

This fall marks the return of one of the most highly anticipated family events in recent years. From October 5 through November 5, the grounds and gardens of the Museum become a wondrous site for creativity through Wee Faerie Village: In the Land of Picture Making. Over 30 artists transform the Museum’s eleven acres into a magical land featuring faerie dwellings that represent subject matter found in landscape paintings, including trees, flowers, sunlight, and wind.

Share your love of the Museum with visitors Volunteer docents are trained to interact with visitors to the Griswold House offering both enthusiasm and information. Our next training session is scheduled for September 10 and 24 (10am-3pm). Docents volunteer for two 3.5 hour shifts monthly.
