The Southern Alberta Art Gallery is excited to announce our fall line up of exhibitions. Opening during Arts Days on September 29 at 8 PM, Nowhere Bodily is Everywhere Ghostlyshowcases the work of Calgary artist Jason de Haan. De Haan is a multidisciplinary artist whose work has been shown in exhibitions across Canada and internationally in the USA, Ireland, Mexico, Sweden, Iceland and the UK. He is currently shortlisted for the 2012 Sobey Art Award representing the Prairies and the North.
Opening concurrently is Kristan Horton's One For Yourself, an exhibition that explores the photographic portrait as it collides with digital manipulation and painterly process. Kristan Horton studied fine art at the University of Guelph and the Ontario College of Art and Design. For the past decade he has shown his work widely in Canada and abroad. He has also had solo exhibitions at White Columns, New York, (2008) and The Contemporary Art Gallery, Vancouver (2007), among others, as well as being featured in a range of group exhibitions including those at the Art Gallery of Ontario, Toronto; Bard College’s Center for Curatorial Studies, Annandale-on-Hudson; the Albright-Knox Gallery, Buffalo; and The Power Plant, Toronto. He currently resides in Berlin.
Later in the fall we'll feature exhibitions by Toronto's Lyla Rye and the Halifax-based Eleanor King. These exhibition open Friday, December 7 at 5 PM.

On Saturday, October 20, sample a variety of Craft beers from distributors such as the 49th Parallel Group, Craft Beer Importers of Canada, Big Rock, Unibroue/Sleeman, and Delancey Direct. With more than 40 beers to choose from, pizza by the slice from Two Guys & A Pizza Place, and gourmet Canadian cheese courtesy of the Dairy Farmers of Canada, we promise your tastebuds won’t be disappointed! The Southern Alberta Art Gallery is excited to announce a new partnership with the Royal Bank of Canada in support of Jason de Haan’s upcoming exhibition and corresponding publication, Nowhere Bodily is Everywhere Ghostly.
De Haan’s exhibition will be on display at SAAG from September 29 to November 25, 2012. Following the exhibition at SAAG, de Haan’s practice will be revisited at the Kitchener-Waterloo Art Gallery and the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia. The three organizations are collaborating to produce the most significant publication of de Haan’s work to date, which will be sponsored by RBC.

PUBLIC PROGRAMMING
With a back-to-school buzz in the air, SAAG is gearing up for a full slate of education and public programs this fall. We're delighted to deliver the fourth edition ofArticulations: Art Appreciation Lecture Series.Starting October 2, Art Historian and Professor of Art History Dr. Leslie Dawn will offer an introduction to the principles and practices, as well as the pleasures and problems associated with the visual arts of the last two centuries. This course is designed to give you an informed position for critically viewing, discussing and becoming engaged with visual art. Read more
In addition to Articulations, SAAG will offer our popular kids programs, Art Club starting September 7 (ages 6 to 9) and Tender Fingers starting September 12 (ages 3 to 5) and in an effort to reduce financial barriers, SAAG will continue to offer our Encouraging Creative Minds Bursary.Read more
