Artist Talk: John Q

Members of the collective John Q (Wesley Chenault, Andy Ditzler, and Joey Orr) discuss their recent work, focusing on queer history and recent exchanges of archival materials between themselves and collaborators in San Francisco. They will open a box of artifacts for the first time at ACAC and invite the audience to discover the objects with them, and imagine and brainstorm the possibilities and challenges inherent in collective work.

Contemporary Talks: Greg Tate

This season's Contemporary Talks series starts with writer, musician, and producer Greg Tate, lecturing about the history of Afrofuturism and black science fiction. Tate was Staff Writer at the Village Voice from 1987 to 2005, and his writings have been published in The New York Times, Artforum, and Vibe, among others. Read more. Plus, it's a Westside Arts District art walk day 12-5pm, so take a walk on the Westside!

Open Studios: Meet & Three

What goes on behind the doors of artist's studios is a private mix of ambition, contemplation, and the courting of various muses. Open Studios is a great way to Meet the 14 artists in our Studio Artist Program, and enjoy Three other enticements: Food, Drinks, and Music by Bernadette Seacrest. Tickets: 7â9pm: $15 general / $5 members, 9â11pm: $5 general / members free.
