Marie-Therese’s fourth show at the Artery includes figurative, still life and landscape oil paintings.  She is showing an eclectic mix of beach and farm scenes from her many travels to Santa Barbara and the Santa Ynez Valley, as well as the familiar scenery of Yolo County, including flowers from her back yard.  Marie paints everyday whatever comes her way. Whether it's her plein air paintings of the rugged Flat Irons outside of Boulder Colorado or a portrait of women cooling off in New York’s Central Park, there’s something for everyone.  Cow heads on wooden blocks and on old pitcher found in the trash are all recorded for the viewer's delight.
 
Recently the University of California Natural Reserve System selected one of Marie’s paintings of the Sedgwick Reserve in Santa Barbara for publication in a book featuring all 38 UC Reserves.  Marie's painting of the Sedgwick reserve in Santa Barbara can be seen during the show and in the forthcoming September book.
 
Whenever she leaves home, Marie takes her paints to record places that would otherwise fade from memory. She loves the sport of plein air painting and has enjoyed teaching a plein air class for the Crocker Museum the past two years. She delights in helping students to see the world through a painter's eyes and joining them as they render whatever comes their way.  You won't want to miss Marie's September show at the Artery.
