The Residency at Hyde Park Art Center introduces international artists to Chicago's creative community
Chicago, IL (August 2012) — This fall the Hyde Park Art Center launches The Residency, bringing artists from around the world to live and work in Chicago to deepen engagement between global and local practices. The inaugural Jackman Class—named for its benefactor, long-time Art Center board member Deone Jackman
—introduces five artists who will spend between one and two months at the Art Center to develop new projects, present work, and connect
with Chicago’s art community.
Introducing the artists in The Jackman Class:
Deniz Gül: Working in video, photography, and installation from Istanbul
Minouk Lim: Working in video and performance from Seoul
Hema Upadhyay: Working in photography, sculpture, and installation from Mumbai
Jen Delos Reyes: Leading social practice artist based in Portland, Oregon
Jeremiah Hulsebos-Spofford: A Chicago artist working on a large-scale installation
