Corona, Calif. August 27, 2012 - MAVTV debuts its first ever 'live' MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) fight card on September 21, 2012 with a (KOTC) King of the Cage World Middleweight title bout headlining a full night of explosive MMA action from the River Spirit Casino in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
This 5 Round, 5 minute per round fight pits KOTC World Middleweight Champion, Sean Strickland from Corona, CA against number one ranked Josh "The Beast" Bryant from Tulsa, OK. Only 21years old, Strickland will be facing double jeopardy by putting both his title and record of 9-0-0 on the line against a very tough fighter. Strickland is renowned as a jiu jitsu expert and has ended all his previous bouts in spectacular fashion, but Bryant (13-1-0) has the edge in experience and will be fighting in front of his hometown fans.
The live, 2-hour telecast also features three additional bouts which figure to be every bit as fierce as the title fight itself:
HEAVYWEIGHTS: Cody "The Freight Train" East vs Kinny Spotwood: Cody East is New Mexico State MMA Champion hailing from Los Lunas. East carries a record of 2-1-0 into battle with former arena football standout Kinny Spotwood of Tulsa, OK. Spotwood is undefeated in MMA action at 3-0-0 (2-0 pro, 1-0 amateur) and is looking for a reputation-building win over East.
BANTAMWEIGHTS: Zac Haney vs Treston Thomison: Zac Haney's record doesn't do him justice at 3-6-0 and he's looking to this fight to move up the rankings. Hailing from Lubbock, TX, Haney will test the skills of up and coming KOTC prospect Treston Thomison from Ardmore, OK. Thomison has a 13-1-0 overall record (6-1-0 pro) and has been taken to a decision only once.
HEAVYWEIGHTS: Andelison Clementino vs Jeff Karriman: Two heavyweight fighters who will make their KOTC MMA professional debuts this night are Andelison Clementino, a former professional basketball player in Brazil, now fighting out of Oklahoma City and Jeff Karriman from Tulsa, OK. Both are 6 feet 6 inches tall and will weigh in at 260 pounds. This presents a unique opportunity see some very big, very equal gladiators literally go 'head to head' in what promises to be a very exciting match-up.
