Gasworks presents the first UK solo exhibition by New York-based artist Lana Lin.
Showing her film and video work from the 1990s and early 2000s, the exhibition speculates on the problems of translation across cultures, revealing the politics at the root of processes of memory and identification.

TALK: RESIDENCY ARTISTS

Find out more about the work of two of our current artists-in-residence Sunoj D. (India) and Cécile B. Evans (USA/Belgium).
Whilst at Gasworks, Sunoj D. has conducted research at the Natural History Museum (NHM), whilst Evans is working towards producing a new commission to be presented at this year's Frieze London.
CONTRIBUTE A PLANT POT IN THE NAME OF ART!
Sunoj D. would like people to bring along plant pots to the talk or at any point during his residency. These will become part of his installation Remains of the Soil from the Land where the Sun never sets' installed at the NHM in 2013.

PERFORMATIVE TALK: DE-FENCING BY FRANCISCA BENITEZ
TUESDAY 11 SEPTEMBER, 7pm
presents some of her recent and upcoming projects. These include de-fence LNP, a site-specific performance piece for 26 dancers and 13 barricades in Louise Nevelson Plaza, New York; and her upcoming show at MAVI, Santiago, where she plans to transform the exhibition space into a fully functioning sign language school.
As a preview to the work she will produce in Chile, this talk will be translated simultaneously into British Sign Language.

WALK: THROUGH SITES OF DISSENT
SUNDAY 30 SEPTEMBER, 12pm (MEET AT GASWORKS)
Join residency artist Francisca Benítez on this walk through London, exploring the many sites of protest and conflict throughout the city's history. The walk is both an opportunity for the artist to discover the city and for Londoners to see it in a new light. As the walk develops, informal exchanges will take place, stories will unfold, information will be revealed, details will be discovered and situations will be discussed.

CREATIVE INDIA RESIDENCY AT GASWORKS
The Creative India Residency is open to emerging and mid-career established artists living and working in India. The artist selected for this residency will be expected to engage discursively and speculatively with Gasworks' environments and London's wider artistic and cultural context.
