Oakland, CA: Pro Arts is pleased to present 2 x 2 Solos: Amy M. Ho, curated by Zachary Royer Scholz, on view September 4 - October 6, 2012 at Pro Arts' gallery, 150 Frank H. Ogawa Plaza in downtown Oakland.
For her commissioned exhibition at Pro Arts, Amy M. Ho's two immersive installations explore imaginary space and the way we experience color in our everyday environment. With wall-sized digital projections and subtle spatial alterations, Ho's deftly choreographed environments challenge us to rethink our presence not only in physical space, but also within the expanded virtual terrain that new technologies have opened.

About the Artist: Amy M. Ho lives and works in the Bay Area; she received her undergraduate degree in Art Practice from the University of California, Berkeley and her MFA from Mills College. Ho has exhibited nationally and internationally; her work was recently featured in the 2012 San Francisco International Arts Festival. 2 x 2 Solos at Pro Arts is Ho's first solo exhibition in the East Bay.
About the Curator: Zachary Royer Scholz is an internationally exhibited artist and writer based in San Francisco, California. Scholz holds a BA from Stanford University, and an MFA and MA in Visual & Critical Studies from California College of the Arts. Scholz has received various awards and residencies, most recently a 2011 Kala Art Institute Fellowship and a 2012 residency at Headlands Center for The Arts.
About 2 x 2 Solos: 2 x 2 Solos is a series of solo exhibitions featuring new work commissioned from four accomplished emerging artists based in the Oakland/Bay Area. Providing a platform for cutting-edge, risk-taking art and situates artists in a critical contemporary art context, the program is supported, in part, by the National Endowment for the Arts, California Arts Council, and Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts. Participation in 2 x 2 Solos based on nomination by the top arts professionals in the region. From over 100 nominations, 4 artists were selected based on review by a curatorial panel and studio visits with independent curators. 2 x 2 Solos 2012 Artists: Amy H.
