Spotlight on Gary Ruddell
We have been exhibiting the paintings by Gary Ruddell for several years with great collectors supporting the work. Ruddell's work is steeped in poetic nuance. The imagery is akin to visual theater and is built upon the artist's reflections on the his life and that of his growing children. Part of his intrigue is a philosophy that leans towards the positive. In these pieces we find beauty in the act of the attempt. Life lessons and other hurdles aside, these paintings are just interesting to look at.

PREVIEW NOTE:
In September we launch the season with the highly anticipated exhibition of works by DAVID KASSAN. His last show in 2009 was highly praised by collectors and artists. Mark your calendar for Thursday, September 13th, 6-8 pm for the opening.
As a teaser for what will come, below is his drawing, AUBREY (available), and the painting, PORTRAIT OF MY DAD, which has now been collected. Kassan will exhibit drawings along with numerous paintings in his show.

As a follow up to our last email we maintain our focus on the Summer City. Alexandra Pacula's fine paintings create a visual rush. She sees the city as a vibrant, moving metropolis. Below we focus on two bridge paintings where this swift city particularly comes to life.

For the final few weeks of summer we take a special look at the city paints by Vincent Giarrano. This artist, as you have seen in the past, has a wonderful grasp of the New York City street culture. In several new works, Giarrano gives us the bright summer days of bustling SoHo. These pieces retain the bold color and energy of the place while preserving our interest in the subtle stories of people that populate it.
